What Every Nigerian Must Know

It's no more news that the general elections in Nigeria which was to be formally conducted on Saturday,14th February 2015 was postponed to Saturday, 28th March 2015 due to the on going Boko Haram Insurgency in the north-eastern part of the country.

This will be the 5th quadrennial election to be held since the end of military rule in 1999 and restoration of civil rule in Nigeria. Voters will have to elect their next President and Members to the House of Representatives and the Senate (National Assembly).

Nigerians must aside other party(s) pick between the incumbent president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, who will be seeking for a second and final term and the opposition leader Muhammudu Buhari, a former military dictator. Now the question is;

-We all voice out, we want free and fair election but is that even possible?
-We need change says everyone but are we ourselves ready to change to move the nation forward?
-Who will follow the written down rules and laws  when the law makers themselves breaks them?

Truth is that Nigerians are tired of rigged elections, the democratic process continues to be undermined by the criminal manipulations of votes by godfathers. Illiterate and jobless youths are out there being used and manipulated by our corrupt leaders to cause trouble in the country.

Nigerians want credible elections this time around, we want no excuses on arrival of materials and provision of adequate security on that day. A situation where there is no fuel to move officers to their polling units will be unacceptable, a situation where voters are cajoled to vote for someone is not what we want. Political parties and candidates need to play by the rules and our broken political system needs to be fixed.

This election is for the progress and development of this country and should be devoid of bribery and sentiments like ethnicity, religion and nepotism. One thing every Nigerian must know is that the decision we make on that day will either LIBERATE or IMPRISON us for the next four years...don't sell your vote!
