For every single issue or problem we are faced with in this world, the Bible has answers for it. And the more we know God’s word, the better equipped we are as believers to share, minister, teach and model Christ to other lives.
By writing this I’m not saying one verse is less valuable than any other, the whole Word of God is highly important and essential, but I feel these are a few number of verses every believer should be committed to know, understand, and memorize off head.
- Matthew 6:33 – But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
- John 1:12 – But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.
- Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. - Matt 22:37-39 – Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
- Romans 8:28 – And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
- Joshua 1:8 – Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
- Deuteronomy 31:6 – Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.
- 2 Timothy 3:16-17 – All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
- 2 Timothy 1:7 – For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
- Romans 12:1-2 – I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
- John 10:10 – The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
- Psalm 91:7 – A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
- John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
- Philippians 4:13 – I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.
- Galatians 5:22-23 – But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
- 1 Corinthians 10:13 – No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.
- Deuteronomy 7:9 – Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commands.
- Acts 20:35 – In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘it is more blessed to give than to receive.’
- Matthew 6:19-21 – Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
- Malachi 3:10 – Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, “says the Lord Almighty”, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.

- Proverbs 22:29 – Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.
- Matthew 28:19-20 – Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
- Revelation 22:12-13 – Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.
- Philippians 4:6 – Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Tip: If you can memorize them for just one hour every day for one week, you will have them in your head.
