Recently, I have been going through certain situations that seemed to challenge my faith in God right before my very face. But I’m so thankful that life is full of choices, and choosing faith over fear is one choice we believers must learn to embrace daily. It’s either you are walking in faith or walking in fear, you can’t be doing the two at once.
Faith in God brings obvious benefits. It switches the light on. Unbelief releases the acid of cynicism. – Reinhard Bonnke
Worry is a sign of lack of faith. – Apostle Joshua Selman Nimmak
So the devil began whispering things to me like; “God has forgotten about you”, “You can’t make it”, “You may never reach this height”, “Things will not work out”, “Just give up”, “How much longer will God show up for you?”, “Do you really believe He will make a way?”, etc.
And though I paid less or little attention to it but the thoughts kept running through my mind and I was like no, how dare you devil!
Truth is, the devil will definitely challenge you and your faith one way or the other, people will also come and say this and that, but it’s left to you to decide what to believe and hold on to. So, how was I able to overcome the fears and raging thoughts that clouded my mind? I did so by the word of God!
You need to find out what God’s word says about that particular situation you are faced with and hold on to it so dearly because knowing His word is the foundation and beginning of choosing faith over fear. A lot of us love the Lord but lack the knowledge of the word, which is why many of us give in to the devil’s cheap lies. You need to;
- Know the word of God
- Listen to the word of God
- Understand the word of God
- Obey the word of God
- Speak the word of God
- Pray the word of God
- Live the word of God
When I am afraid, I will put my trust in you. – Psalm 56:3
It's our knowledge of the word of God that strengthens and gives us boldness to step out in faith and trust God for the impossible. Click To Tweet
So does it matter what the enemy says, when God’s word already said:
“He can never forget you”
“You can make it”
“You can do all things through him”
“You can reach this height and even far beyond”
“Things will work out”
“It is well with you”
“I will make a way where there seems to be no way”, etc.
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. – Isaiah 41:10
Do you really believe His word for you?
Often times in the journey of life, we are faced with what seems like a dead end. Our human tendency is to take our eyes off God and fix it on the problem thereby embracing overwhelming feelings of fear and anxiety.
Regardless of how you feel or what’s happening, you must stand firm in faith and put your trust in the LORD than ever before. Believe in His promises for you and Hold on closely to His word, make sure you can truly say, I chose faith over fear.
Tell me, what’s the worst storm you have ever been through? How did you overcome it? How did you choose faith over your fears? Would love to read your helpful thoughts, share with me and other readers below.
