Goal setting is one of the most effective and measurable ways of creating new beginnings and attaining great feats in the future. Without goals, one can lack focus and direction.

Setting goals helps you to plan, organize, and make best use of the available time and resources. It channels and enables you to fulfill things like never before. It is the secret to a compelling future.

Desire without a realistic goal is only but a wish.

To help you create new beginnings and set realistic goals for the new year, below are tips to get you started.

Review your goal performance for last year

What went well and what didn’t go well with your 2019 goals? Was there something you should have probably done better that could have given you an edge? Write them out and analyze them.

To transform your life, you need to be sincere with yourself and set only realistic goals.

Write out areas you did and didn’t do so well this year and review them. Know your performance so you can work on areas that needs to be worked on and eliminate things not needed. By so doing, you can plan better and work harder in the coming year!

Be specific

You have to be specific about your goals. Don’t set goals haphazardly, set goals with a clear purpose and vision in mind.

For goals to be achievable, they must be clear, detailed and specific.

Write out areas of your life you want to see positive changes (finance, education, health, blog, career, family, personal, etc.) and make a list of things that would help you achieve them.

Make it attainable

Don’t set unrealistic and unattainable goals. If you know you will be so busy in the coming year, don’t commit yourself to what you can’t do. Don’t be lazy about your goals either, take meaningful action towards realizing them. Be SMART!

Express your goals positively.

Have more control over your goals. Be focus, avoid distractions. In order to attain goals, separate what’s important from what’s relevant. You will agree with me that some things are needful but not all things are necessary, so do the needful and be positive about it.

Attach a time frame to it

Another key thing in setting and achieving goals is to break them into manageable time frames; short-term goals, medium-term goals, and long-term goals. I have weekly and monthly goals, I also have life time goals which helps my transformation and building process yearly. These goals motivates me and encourages me to do more, I think everyone should do the same.

Write goals down, it crystallizes them and gives them a powerful force.

Tell someone about it

To help keep your goals in check and keep you accountable, tell someone about it. Sharing our goals with others increases our likelihood of achieving them. Don’t just keep it to yourself, have an accountability partner. It can be your loved one or best friend, so they can hold you accountable to your words. Before doing this, be sure you are ready to commit to doing the work and open to correction, critique and feedback.

Lastly, 2020 is just around the corner and the best time to create new beginnings is NOW. Don’t just sit down at the same spot and let life happen to you. Consider what you would like to achieve in the coming year, then commit yourself to a better you. That’s one of the best ways to having a fulfilled year, it works for me every time.
